What to Expect in Worship

Membership

Worship is at the heart of our congregational life, with Holy Communion celebrated at every Festival and weekend service. The average weekly attendance at Our Saviour's is 572 people. All ages are welcome. A nursery, quiet room and dedicated children’s area are available for families with young children. Hearing assists are also available.

Traditional Worship Service

Our Saviour’s offers Traditional Worship Services, using the hymns and liturgies of Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) on Saturday evenings at 5:00 pm and Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. Congregational singing is led by the majestic Gabriel Kney pipe organ, while the Chancel Choir, Celebration Ringers, Brass Ensemble, the Our Saviour’s Orchestra, and various children’s choirs bring music of many styles to worship.

Contemporary Worship Service

Our Saviour’s offers Contemporary Worship at 11:00 am, led by the 3N1 Worship Team. Creativity and joy are hallmarks of this service, with the music a combination of popular contemporary songs, original compositions, and an occasional hymn or two. Children’s choirs, Jericho Brass and the Celebration Ringers can also be heard at this service.

When are the Traditional and Contemporary Worship Services?

The Traditional Worship Services are held at 5:00 pm on Saturdays, and 9:00 am on Sundays.

The Contemporary Worship Service is at 11:00 am on Sundays.

Does Our Saviour’s have a dress code?

No, please come as you are! Most people dress for the weather, while showing respect for the occasion of worshiping the Lord.

Is everyone invited to take Communion?

All who believe in the saving grace of Jesus Christ and are baptized Christians are welcome to share in Holy Communion, celebrated at every weekend service.

Can I sit when everyone else is standing?

Yes, absolutely. Here at Our Saviour's, you stand if you are able. Some members prefer to sit during these times.

Does Our Saviour’s have women pastors?

Yes! Women are welcome to become ordained ministers in the ELCA, and Our Saviour’s currently has two women pastors (out of three total) on staff.

Do I need to give money into the collection baskets?

As a visitor, you are not asked nor expected to give anything to Our Saviour's when the baskets are passed. However, if you choose to become a regular worshipper here at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, you need to know up front that we take our response to God's blessings seriously. If you choose to become a part of our church, you will be expected to give freely, regularly, generously, and proportionately to help carry out this church's Mission and Vision as a congregation.

Are my children welcome in church?

Yes! Children are invited to join in the children’s sermon, sing the songs, say prayers, or enjoy their very own children’s bulletin. Our Saviour's offers a special area in the back of the sanctuary tailor-made, just for little ones. We also have a Quiet Room, adjacent to our Traditional Worship Space for our youngest worshipers, who may need some personalized attention. A nursery is provided from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Sundays.

New Member Classes

Coming in April 2021 – Our Saviour’s will offer our first-ever Virtual New Member Meetings for people who plan to worship at Our Saviour’s in-person when our church building re-opens and for people who worship with Our Saviour’s online, but may live far away from the actual church building.
